Wired for Christmas!

Knowing how much I love good coffee... make that STRONG coffee, all of you Blog Lovers will appreciate this posting. A couple of weeks ago the church youth group had a silent auction to raise funds. Dad and I were the lucky bidders for a Starbucks Barista Espresso Machine, and - to use Dad's word - all its acoutrements. After downloading the 40-page instruction manual, I primed the machine and made my first 2 shots of espresso. My life will never be the same.

Before Sam and Dad headed up to the Duck Club at 5:30 this a.m., I made 8 shots (4 for Dad, 4 for me). Fabulous. Since then, I have made myself a couple more shots, and I am positively WIRED. This new appliance will allow me to take things up a notch, including cleaning the house. I am now into SPEED cleaning. And SPEED laundry. And now SPEED Blogging - this posting only took me 2 minutes.

Might be a good idea to incorporate a little Decaf into my coffee diet.

Moshpit- we certainly have a cosmic connection across the Pacific... I has espresso THIS morning with my friend Peach (who lived in Norway for a couple months and visited Italy and fell in love with espresso). She makes the espresso for me using a little pot and putting it over a single burner hooked up to propane outside. It's a very rudimentary process. She said she wished she had a machine that would make it for her with just the press of a button. I said, "Like an espresso machine?" And she said, "Yes, of course, but they're too expensive!" Anyway, this conversation was meant to happen on the day that you posted about your new machine. I remember when Sam recalled the coffeemaker/ lightning strike catastrophe and he worried about not being able to make good coffee when he grew up. Ahhh the memories. I also finished my advent calendar today and remembered how Sam and I used to play with Legos at 4am on Christmas morning to wait for everyone else to wake up so that we could wait even longer for Mom and Dad to drink their coffee and set up the video camera so that we could FINALLY open presents! haha
